(311) Kanda Matsuri – 7

Until the time of the Great Earthquake of 1923 the main characteristic of the Kanda Matsuri were the dashi (山車) floats, featuring images from mythology, Noh theater or folk traditions. The floats have, for the most part, vanished but the particular one in the Kanda Myojin grounds still exists so people can get a taste of how things used to be –the figure is a deity from the Noh play “Kamo” (加茂).
