It’s a shame that his story is known (basically) only to those practicing judo: Jigoro Kano (1860-1938), here in front of the Kodokan (講道館) building in Tokyo’s Bunkyo Ward is to a great degree responsible for the martial arts as we know them today. All the martial arts.
