The lighter version of onsen is ashiyu (足湯) i.e. footbath.
The onsen proper is hard to photograph (it is common so the other bathers and the hotel administration have some privacy issues)
but there are also the private roten-buro (露天風呂) or outdoors baths.
What it means to get out of the hot water and into 28°F is a matter to be discussed at some other time.
