(811) Something to nibble on

At the left, "tsumami pok" (つまみポーク) i.e. "snack made of pork". At the right, "tsumami beef" (つまみ BEEF) i.e. "snack made of beef". And in the middle I, trying to understand why "THE" is in English and why while the pork remains in Japanese, the beef doesnt.

(For a bigger version of this picture both in color and black and white, check my "Japan Arekore" set on Flickr)
