(996) A touch of culture

Zojoji, (増上寺) in Minato Ward's Shiba is one of Tokyo's most important temples. Although it isn't that old (it was founded in 1393) it was and remains huge and since 1590 it became one of the two official temples of the Tokugawa, the family that ruled Japan for almost 300 years; also, it's the main temple of the Jodo-shu (浄土宗) sect of Buddhism. One day I'll make a feature about about it- for now, this is its gate on Hibiya Dori avenue.
