I don't remember if I've said it before but I think the virtual singer Hatsune Miku (初音ミク) is one of the most interesting aspects of contemporary Japanese culture. I still haven't managed to see her live (so to speak) but the other day I saw her on TV performing with an orchestra a work by electronic music pioneer Isao Tomita (冨田勲, 1932-2016); the work is "Symphony Ihatov" (イーハトーヴ交響曲) and is dedicated to author Kenji Miyazawa (宮沢賢治, 1896-1933) about whom I wrote earlier when we visited Hanamaki in Iwate.
