(1537) Sulphur fields

To be exact, fields of hot water with a lot of sulphur in it: the "Yubatake" (湯畑) literally "hot water field" where the bath salts "yu no hana" (湯の花) or "hot water flowers" are collected. It is the central spot of Kusatsu  (草津) in Gunma Prefecture, the town with the most popular onsen hot spring in all Japan. And yes, there is a whole album with pictures from our trip there -you will find it on Flickr

(For a bigger version of this picture both in color and black and white, check my "Japan Arekore" set on Flickr)
